CAITLIN SHAW - 2019

I had a very busy April with a training camp in Sydney, Sail Easter and flying out for Japan in the space of two weeks. I was invited to attend the Japanese Olympic Youth Cup in Karatsu, Japan. This was an amazing experience as it was the first time traveling as part of a team internationally. After a tough regatta in very light winds and a yellow flag in the first race I placed 15th overall in a competitive fleet of 80 and 3rd female.

I then competed in the ILCA Laser Radial Youth World Championships in Kingston, Canada. This was my first world championships and it was definitely a learning experience. With the changing conditions and the competitive fleet, it was great to get three results in the top 10.

I would like to thank the continuing support of my family, the clubs South of Perth Yacht Club and Fremantle Sailing Club and WA Laser Association. I am now excited to get back to training for the nationals and hopefully the open worlds in Melbourne at the beginning of next year.
